Cultivation Objectives:
Cultivate students with solid basic knowledge, broad professional orientation, coordinated development of scientific spirit and humanistic literacy, national sentiment, elite literacy, energy qualities, international vision, innovative spirit and practical ability, mastery of basic theories and systematic expertise in robot structure, robot engineering software and theory, and robot application technology, and the ability to analyze, research, and solve complex robot engineering problems, who are capable of engaging in scientific design, development, application, and management in robot engineering and related fields. Students are expected to be capable of analyzing, studying and solving complex robotics engineering problems, and can engage in scientific research, design and development, application and management in robotics engineering and related fields.
Curriculum:
On the basis of basic theoretical knowledge such as higher mathematics and university physics, as well as humanities and social sciences, management sciences, informatics and foreign languages, the core courses of the major include: Electronic Circuits (Electric Circuits, Digital Electricity, Analog Electricity), Signal Analysis and Processing, Control Engineering Fundamentals, Motor Drive And Motion Control, Robotic Mechanism and Structural Design, Robotics (bilingual), Robotic Sensing and Interaction Technology, Microcontroller Principles and Interface Technology, Embedded System Design, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robot System Design and Application, Mobile Robot Positioning and Navigation, Mining Robotics, etc.; Training projects in innovation and entrepreneurship, experimental skills, robotics applications, robot hardware and software design, and scientific research methods are also involved.
Cultivation Characteristics:
The Robotics Engineering major highlights the characteristics of “New Engineering”, responds to the national strategy, aims to cultivate intelligent robots, especially special robots in the field of mining, and emphasizes on the cultivation of practical ability and the organic integration of multiple disciplines. Relying on the Institute of Intelligent Mining and Robotics led by academicians of the Academy of Engineering, the national engineering practice education center, the first-level doctoral degree of Mechanical Engineering, and the municipal off-campus talent cultivation bases of Beijing's higher education institutions, the program provides a good platform for students' academic development. The tutor responsibility system is fully implemented over undergraduates, which covers the whole range of scientific research and innovation training programs, and aims to actively guide students participating in undergraduate academic competitions, strengthen scientific research and engineering practice skills, and emphasize on cultivating students' independent learning ability, innovation ability, and the ability to apply scientific methods to solve complex engineering problems. In 2021, the program was selected as one of the first-class undergraduate programs in Beijing.
The teachers of this major all have doctoral degrees, amongst them are two National Coal Youth Science and Technology Award winners, three Koshigasaki Young Scholars. In addition to full-time teachers, there are also professors from mechanical, electrical, computer science and other disciplines to undertake some of the core courses of this major, with significant interdisciplinary training characteristics.
Employment and Further Study:
In recent years, the graduation rate of undergraduates of this major is 100%, and the rate of further study is over 65%. Outstanding graduates are likely to be recommended to join in postgraduate programs in our university or other famous universities according to students’ willing and capacity. So far, there have been a number of students who have been recommended to Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and other well-known universities and research institutes in and abroad for further study. This program faces a wide range of employment, mainly in scientific research institutions, enterprises and other related fields, engaging in robotics engineering-related scientific research, design and development works.
